Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Design Software Development for Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations

Grade 7: 31,604 - 38,833 p.a.

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Civil Engineering research group at the Department of Engineering Science, central Oxford. The post is funded by a geotechnical software company (PLAXIS) and is fixed-term for 6 months.

You will take a leading role in a software development project to implement new design procedures for foundations, for offshore wind turbines, within the PLAXIS 3D finite element environment. You will be responsible for development of optimisation procedures, coded in Python, to calibrate simplified design models using data from PLAXIS 3D finite element analysis. Supporting the process of checking the foundation design software developed by PLAXIS and contributing to the development and checking of software documentation, including case studies.

You should possess an excellent first degree (First or Upper Second) and a PhD/DPhil (or nearing completion) in engineering or a related subject. You should have experience in developing engineering analysis software, including the use of Python and have excellent written communication skills.
