We are seeking a full-time Research Software Engineering Associate in High Performing Computing to join the Scientific Computing research group at the Oxford e-Research Centre, Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by EPSRC and is fixed-term for 18 months.
The main responsibility of the postholder will be to work closely with Dr Ian Bush to develop distributed memory computational solutions in a number of applications, mainly in the computational chemistry and magnetohydrodynamics areas. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design these solutions in collaboration with the other developers of the codes. The postholder will be expected to implement the design correctly and efficiently, to document and publish their work in an appropriate manner, and to be an active and engaged member of the wider OeRC scientific computing group. Thus the main duty will be as a scientific programmer within a collaborative team.
You should possess an MSc in computational or a physical science (or a related subject), or equivalent experience in scientific computing, good communication skills and a knowledge of modern software development techniques using compiled, high level languages.
