The Department of Oncology has an opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow to join Dr Sarah Blagden’s group working on the Early Phase Cancer Trials Unit. You will work alongside staff in the Oxford NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, Oxford University Hospitals and the University of Oxford. This post includes the opportunity to engage in a translational research project under the supervision of a scientist in the Oxford Cancer Research Centre.
Your responsibilities will include inpatient and outpatient care of cancer patients being treated as part of trials performed on the Early Phase Cancer Trials Hub (EPCTU). You will also co-ordinate and execute trial activities for EPCTU, including (but not limited to) study specific investigations, sample collection and handling, data collection, case record folder completion, maintenance of study documentation.
This post also includes the opportunity where appropriate to undertake the MSc in Experimental and Translational Therapeutics at the University of Oxford on a fully funded basis. This consists of five days of intensive face-to-face lectures and tutorials followed by a period for assignment work.
You will have a medical degree and will be a GMC registered Medical Practitioner (or eligible for registration), with relevant and substantial hospital service, including experience of managing cancer patients. You will also have held post-foundation hospital appointments in oncology, surgery or a related discipline. Training at Registrar level and a National Training Number in medical oncology is also an essential requirement.
This is a full-time post, offered for 1 year in the first instance.
