An opportunity has arisen for a Research Software Engineering Associate based within Oxford Universityís Advanced Research Computing group (ARC).
Working within ARC, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Oxfordís users of a new £3m National HPC facility called JADE. Consisting of 22 NVIDIA DGX-1 servers, the JADE facility is a state of the art, GPU based system, designed to target Machine Learning and Molecular Dynamics science challenges.
This RSE role will provide a key function in Oxfordís use of the JADE facility and will require you to engage with researchers and colleagues across the university; providing advice on software development, and porting and optimising existing software to the new system. In addition to local engagement, JADE is also has RSE support provided by other institutions as well as our delivery partners at STFCís Hartree Centre; providing additional expertise and support for the facility as well as the opportunity to learn from and share lessons with experts from across the UK.
In addition to the software engineering elements of the role, you will also be expected to become involved in training and dissemination activities for JADE with regard to sharing your expertise and knowledge, and liaising with prospective users at Oxford.
As such you will need to be confident in communicating with both expert and non-expert colleagues at all levels and willing to extend your technical skills as required to bring about a solution for users of the system.
