Postdoctoral Researcher - DNA Damage Signalling and Repair
Department of Oncology, Old Road Campus Research Building, Oxford
Grade 7: £31,076 - £38,183 p.a.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position within the Genome Stability and Tumourigenesis Group led by Professor Madalena Tarsounas. The primary goal of the Genome Stability and Tumourigenesis Group is to investigate how tumour cells lacking BRCA1 or BRCA2 tumour suppressors develop tolerance to endogenous replication stress and how this, in turn, sustains cell proliferation and tumour growth.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in investigating the mechanisms through which the Fanconi anemia (FA) pathway restricts the genomic instability intrinsic to BRCA1/2-deficient cells and tumours. The successful candidate will carry out research using proteomic analyses as a discovery tool, combined with hypothesis-driven cell biological and biochemical approaches to address how FA sustains DNA replication and prevents lethal loss of genome integrity in cancer cells carrying BRCA1/2 mutations.

You will hold (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics or biochemistry (or related area of research) and will be highly motivated and committed to achieve clear career goals. A proven high-level of technical competence in standard cell and molecular biology techniques is essential. You will also have strong research track record in DNA damage signalling/repair and a good publication record with a minimum of one first-author publication in a peer-review journal.

This is a full-time post and is offered for 3 years in the first instance with the possibility of extension.

All applicants must complete a short online application form and upload a CV with publication list, a supporting statement and a reprint of their best article.
