Working within the University’s Advanced Research Computing team, the successful candidate will focus on providing software engineering expertise and support to users of the Joint Academic Data Science Endeavour (JADE) National Tier 2 GPU cluster funded by EPSRC, and GPU systems at the University.
The successful candidate will work across the University, engaging with researchers, providing advice and hands on development assistance for the porting and optimisation of existing software to GPU platforms. The postholder will also need the ability to take on technical leadership for the development and coding of new capabilities to meet evolving research requirements, to address new challenges and deliver more accurate insights in research areas such as machine learning and molecular dynamics. As such, as well as demonstrable experience in GPU code development, the ability to engage in effective dialogue with researchers and research group is a strong requirement.
In addition to the software engineering responsibilities of the role, the postholder will also be expected to play a lead role in technical advocacy for the GPU architecture within Oxford’s research communities, and network with Research Software Engineers within the University’s Research Software Development Network, and externally through engagement with the JADE partner institutions and other National networks e.g. UK RSEA.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 14 May 2018. The interviews are anticipated to take place on Thursday 7 June 2018.
